Getting your family ready for travel to your holiday destination involves more than just packing a few clothes in a suitcase. While we can’t assist you with passports or promise that you’ll arrive on time, we can help you make sure that your family arrives ready to explore.

With long hours in the car, at the airport or on a plane, it’s easy for the whole family to feel drained, out of balance and overwhelmed.  That’s why we’ve put together this school holiday travel guide. There’s no better feeling than arriving refreshed and balanced at your destination. Let’s get started. 

Drink Plenty of Water

Before and during your trip, it’s important to drink plenty of water. It keeps you hydrated, cool and feeling refreshed. Plus, it helps you keep your emotions in check and reduces tiredness. Most of all, it helps prevent that “hot, tired and grumpy” feeling.

Water bottles with ice sticks are great for kids and adults too. Simply place the ice sticks in the freezer a few days before leaving and place them in water bottles on the day of your departure. If you’re travelling by car, filling an esky with ice and cold drinks will help keep the whole family cool for the trip.

Plan Your Sleep

Arriving rested is key to a great holiday. It makes adjusting to time differences especially when travelling overseas easier and helps reduce jetlag. Planning when and how you will sleep will help you arrive safely, less tired and ready to start your holiday.

For younger kids, taking their favourite pillow, blanket or toy can help them feel relaxed, comfortable and ready to sleep in unfamiliar and possibly less comfortable spaces. On plane trips, small travel pillows make a great substitute for regular pillows. You can find these pillows at your local camping or adventure store.

Move and Stretch

Planning and taking regular breaks while travelling is vital. It helps you feel refreshed, less tired and helps you regain focus. Plus, it’s a great way to keep the kids entertained. On long car trips, taking little detours and rest stops like picnics, adds to the adventure and helps ensure that you arrive safely at your final destination.

While it can be more difficult to move and stretch on long plane journeys, taking the time to complete a few stretches in your seat or walking around the cabin can help break up a long flight.  It can boost circulation, improve energy levels and helps kids settle down for a short nap.

Start Preparing for Departure

Flying can be draining, overwhelming and a new experience for younger kids.  For long-haul plane flights, taking our Travel Essence Drops for a few days before your flight or trip you simply take 7 drops under the tongue.

Minimise the Effects of Travel

While travelling, your family can feel more grounded, calm and in balance and arrive refreshed and ready to explore by:

  •  Using Travel Essence Drops on the morning of departure and throughout your journey. During long-haul flights, take 7 drops under the tongue each hour of your flight. On short flights or by car, boat or train, simply take 7 drops under the tongue on the day you’re leaving and continue as required. For children, drops can be taken under the tongue, diluted in water or applied topically to the crown of the head or wrist pulse point.
  • Taking Travel Essence Oral Spray every hour. Simply spray 3 times on each family member’s tongue.
