Vignettes CD

Jane Rosenson (the principal harpist with Opera Australia), has collaborated with Emma Sholl, the associate principal flautist from the Sydney Symphony, to create a divine new CD entitled ‘Vignettes’.

Vignettes feature enchanting melodies, energy-filled rhythms, and a rich contemporary kaleidoscope of works for flute/alto flute and harp, which are reflective, sensuous, joyful, and jazzy!

Jane and Emma made arrangements of quirky compositions as well as including two inspired original works written especially for them. Several of the tracks also feature double bass and percussion.

This album has something for everyone, beautiful classical music, jazz-infused chamber, and contemporary repertoire from leading Australian composers. Clearly one of my favorites is their arrangement of Nigel Westlake's Penguin Dance which is featured in the IMAX movie, Antarctica!

Included on the CD is a wonderful new piece by Roger Lock, Australian guitarist/composer, about his relationship with the Ocean, Mark Issac’s (jazz pianist) Barcarolle, and 3 movements from the well-known Suite for flute and jazz piano by Claude Bolling.
