Using the Essences Creatively - An Insight Card Consultation
The consultation began by asking my client, Marion, to think of an issue she would like to resolve and choose three cards: one for the past to reveal the cause of the problem; the second for the present moment; and the third for what might help in the future.
Marion mentioned that the issue she had asked for healing around was the loss of loved ones; the death of a favourite uncle and separation from a son and a daughter. She said that she wanted to come to terms with the changes in her life but the truth was she felt deep sadness and loss. She wanted to find a new way of being so that she could move from one stage to another. Marion said that her head knows that this needs to happen but the heart has just not caught up. She said "There seem to be so many levels. I think sometimes that I have dealt with this and then something comes up again and the wound feels open and fresh again."
- THE PAST - Dog Rose of the Wild Forces
We discussed the feeling of inner and outer turmoil which Dog Rose of the Wild Forces might address. Marion talked about the feelings of fear that arise when she thinks about her uncle, daughter and son and that it all reminded her of an early childhood abandonment.
- THE PRESENT - Turkey Bush
Marion felt that this Essence may help her find a way to ease the pain helping her to access her creativity in finding a new way of being.
- THE FUTURE - Mountain Devil
Marion was a little perplexed by the Mountain Devil and said that she did not want to be angry but liked that out of Mountain Devil comes forgiveness. She said "I need to forgive myself for having these feelings!"
We then chose another card to help the original abandonment which Marion had touched on. She chose: Lichen. She talked about the symbiotic nature of Lichen and how that might apply to the relationship with her Uncle and children. Marion enjoyed the look of the Lichen and said that for her it brings guidance.
We muscle tested all the above Essences. Dog Rose of the Wild Forces, Mountain Devil and Lichen had done their work during the consultation. However Lichen was needed for Marion and Tall Yellow Top as well, so these were chosen as a combination for the next few weeks.
Lichen was for the letting go of her uncle, son and daughter and Tall Yellow Top for the childhood abandonment which Marion had connected with during the session.
I am always amazed at the work the flower essences do during the consultation. This helped Marion to express her feelings of sadness and depression and to finally come to a combination which might not at first seem appropriate. However, on reflection this combination is perfect for the separation to take place encompassing the hidden and deeper emotion of the original abandonment during her childhood.
